As well as providing an informal environment where you can meet other students
and staff the weekend will include sessions on:
preparing for Honours year studies
postgraduate study and scholarships
planning a career and life in physics
physics in industry
physics around the world
as well as issues specific to women in physics.
The speakers we have invited this year are
Rachel Mendham (ex-University of Melbourne Honours student)
Tanya Hill (Melbourne Planetarium)
Sarah Dods (Photonics Research Lab, University of Melbourne)
Maree Gladwin (University of Melbourne Equal Opportunity Unit)
As well as these formal sessions, there should also be plenty of time left for
enjoying the lovely setting and sitting by the open fire!

Where and when is it?
This year's workshop will be held at the University's property at Blackwood
(about 1hr 15 mins drive from Melbourne on the way to Daylesford). It will run
from Friday evening, 22 September to Sunday afternoon 24 September.
How much does it cost?
The cost of this weekend is being subsidised by the School of Physics, but we
will require a contribution of $15 from each School of Physics participant and
$25 from external particpants to cover costs (we will require this
approximately 1 week before the workshop). This will cover accommodation and
all food, drinks etc.
How do I get there?
We are looking for volunteers with cars to help get
people out there.
