Without coffee he could not work, or at least he could not have
worked in the way he did. In addition to paper and pens, he took
with him everywhere as an indispensable article of equipment the
coffee machine, which was no less important to him than his table or
his white robe.
-- Stefan Zweigs, Biography of Balzac
Yes, we have discovered the wonders of caffeine as a productivity tool
and invested our personal finances in an espresso machine, shared by members
of the research group.
This is a photo of our machine. Please note that this
was paid for by students and staff through a per-cup charge over three
years. It is not for the feint-hearted but with appropriate care and
cleaning it can make a cup just as good as Mario's.
