Research Fellow – Optics Group

The Position: Applications are invited for the position of Research Fellow in the Optics Group, School of Physics, University of Melbourne. This position is funded by the Australian Research Council to support research in atom optics, in particular the manipulation of atomic beams at small scales, under the supervision of Dr Robert Scholten.

The Person: You will have a PhD in experimental atom optics or a related field. You will be expected to participate in all areas of research in the laboratory and in postgraduate student supervision. A capacity for independent research is essential. Experience with ultra-high vacuum and with various lasers, in particular single-frequency tunable Ti:sapphire and external cavity diode lasers, is highly desirable.

The Benefits: Salary $43,042 - $46,203 p.a. (Research Fellow Grade 1)

The Duration: The position is available immediately for a period of two years.
